Facebook and its effect on Culture

Facebook is becoming the most popular website in the entire world, almost everybody has a facebook, "their are more than 500 million users, In February of 2010, it reached over 400 million users, but by July their were 500 million users" (facebook). "People spend over 700 billion minutes/month on facebook" (facebook). Facebook started as a simple networking site for college students, it is still that today, but has also turned into so much more. People broadcast their entire lives over facebook.
Their are so many different things to do on facebook to get in touch with people. You can message, write on their wall, and even "poke" people. A very popular thing among college age kids is to "facebook creep!" Creeping usually happens when you find out somebody's name that you would like to know about, but that you don't want them to know. Creeping is going to their site and basically scanning over all of their pictures and info, without ever adding them.

Now you can play games on facebook, some of the games even cost money to play! Not only are their iTunes cards to buy, there are now facebook cards to buy for points on games. That Is Pathetic.
You can even publish whether you are single, it's complicated, in a relationship, engaged, married or even divorced. A relationship isn't considered "official" until it's on facebook. To facebook users this is a major step in the relationship. It automatically links your profiles together for people to see.
In today's culture college students use facebook as a tool to connect to friends.

According to our group, life would suck without facebook..
